I know a great place with some good people that can help you.
A Traumatic Childhood
Doug Finch’s dad beat him. Often. And the duress lead him to being diagnosed with PTSD and other mental problems. He took antipsychotic medications for years although they didn’t really do much to help.
A Troubled Road
As a kid Doug started drinking heavily to escape the craziness in his head. He struggled to keep his drinking and mental instability under wraps while working various restaurant jobs over the years. After falling on hard times, Doug ended up homeless and on the streets in Memphis, Tennessee.
Doug was at a truck stop panhandling. He met a nice lady that asked him if he really wanted to change his life. She said, “I know a great place with some good people that can help you.” She introduced him to the Warriors Center and Doug was accepted into the program. Doug Knew the first day that this is where he belonged. He worked in the kitchen, he took drug & alcohol classes, he learned to read, he studied the bible and found a place to help others.
A New Life
The staff helped Doug deal with his childhood traumas and he began to change from the inside out. Doug graduated from the long term program and found his purpose in life. Doug took his first job as the Kitchen Manager at Warriors Center to give back to the program that helped him so much. Later Doug began working at Popeyes Chicken and was featured on the CBS Hit TV Show “Undercover Boss” in a powerful episode that highlighted his redemption.
