David Vincent, Founder & CEO

OUR HISTORY

Warriors Center was founded on the remarkable life story of our founder, David Vincent. As a child, he suffered tremendous child abuse and pain. Unable to overcome these challenges, David was consumed by violence, drugs and criminal behavior on the streets of Memphis. His first brush with the law was at four years old and he later began breaking into houses at the age of nine. By adulthood he had become a career criminal. By the age of twenty-two, he was wanted in four states. Later, after over thirty arrest and eighteen felony charges, David was in jail awaiting prison. It was there that he experienced the love and mercy of Jesus Christ on a cold jail cell floor while he was crying out to God. After being miraculously released his life finally turned around.

Overcoming tremendous adversity to become a “Trophy of God’s Grace”, David dedicated his life to helping others who were battling many of the same challenges that he had faced for so many years. He started bible studies in his neighborhood, worked with troubled youth and began outreaches to the homeless.

Later in October of 1999, David began taking homeless men into his home and teamed up with two friends, (Paul Brown & Dustin Prewitt), to start the Warriors Center. Together they felt there was a great need in the Memphis area for a powerful faith-based program that would help restore broken lives. The program was structured to teach men how their lives could be changed by “Seeking God and Helping Others”. This was the same path that helped David to obtain freedom from his horrible past and find redemption by reaching out to others.

Compelled by a vision to impact broken lives by addressing hurting people’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs, the Warriors Center has now grown into a phenomenal frontline’s ministry with multiple men’s and women’s recovery programs in the Mid-South.
