WORK IS PART OF THE TRANSFORMATION
Recovery at Warriors Center is not only about breaking destructive patterns. It is also about building the habits, discipline, and responsibility required to live stable and productive lives. Work plays an important role in that transformation.
Residents learn to show up on time, complete real assignments, work alongside others, and take ownership of their responsibilities. These experiences help restore confidence while also preparing men to succeed in the workplace after they graduate from the program.
Through a combination of structured work inside the program, training initiatives, social enterprise opportunities, and partnerships with local employers, Warriors Center helps residents develop the skills and work ethic needed to move forward with purpose.
LION SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
Lion is the Warriors Center’s customer-facing construction and skilled trades enterprise. Operating as its own nonprofit organization, Lion provides real job training opportunities while delivering professional services to commercial and residential clients.
Lion crews perform a wide range of work including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, and general construction. The organization operates multiple crews that serve both local clients and commercial projects in other regions, including restaurants, retail locations, and large commercial properties.
Program graduates are employed within Lion’s crews, while current residents from the Memphis and Bolivar Warriors Center locations are given the opportunity to train alongside experienced workers. Through these crews, residents gain hands-on experience in skilled trades while learning the expectations and discipline required on professional job sites.
For many residents, Lion also provides a pathway into industry credentials. HVAC certification training is conducted through Lion, giving participants the opportunity to develop technical skills that can lead directly to stable employment after graduation.
By combining job training, real work environments, and employment opportunities for graduates, Lion plays a central role in helping Warriors Center residents move from recovery into long-term stability and meaningful work.
PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL EMPLOYERS
In addition to training opportunities through Lion, Warriors Center residents also gain real-world work experience through partnerships with local businesses. Companies across the community provide opportunities for residents to work in a variety of roles while they are still participating in the program.
These opportunities can include warehouse work, facilities maintenance, office support, light industrial work, and other operational roles where dependable workers are needed. Residents are placed in real job environments where they learn to work alongside experienced teams, follow workplace expectations, and demonstrate reliability over time.
The work is supervised directly by the companies themselves, allowing residents to gain experience in authentic workplace settings. For businesses, these partnerships provide access to motivated workers who are committed to rebuilding their lives and proving themselves through consistent effort and accountability.
Many of these relationships naturally grow into long-term employment opportunities. When residents demonstrate strong work ethic and reliability, it is common for companies to hire them once they graduate from the program, providing a direct pathway from recovery into stable employment.

WORK EXPERIENCE INSIDE THE PROGRAM
In addition to skilled trades and employer partnerships, Warriors Center residents gain valuable work experience through a variety of hands-on opportunities that take place throughout the program. These experiences allow residents to practice responsibility, teamwork, and professionalism in real-world environments while continuing their recovery journey.
Event staffing provides one of the most unique opportunities for residents. Warriors Center teams regularly support major sporting events, concerts, and regional festivals. Residents work alongside experienced event vendors to provide services such as crowd management, security support, parking coordination, hospitality staffing, and event operations. These opportunities range from local venues such as the Landers Center and Agricenter to major national events including NCAA championships, professional sporting events, and large-scale productions across the country.
Residents also develop practical work habits through operational roles connected to the ministry itself. Warriors Center thrift stores provide opportunities for participants to learn retail operations such as sorting donations, preparing merchandise, assisting customers, and maintaining organized workspaces. These environments help residents build consistency, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
Programs such as If I Had a Hammer also contribute to workforce readiness by helping residents strengthen practical life skills, develop problem-solving abilities, and earn foundational certifications that support future employment. Together, these experiences help reinforce the habits, discipline, and confidence needed for long-term success beyond the program.
FROM RECOVERY TO RESPONSIBILITY
At Warriors Center, recovery is about more than leaving addiction behind. It is about rebuilding a life marked by responsibility, purpose, and service to others. Work plays a vital role in that transformation.
Through skilled trades, partnerships with local employers, event staffing opportunities, and hands-on training programs, residents develop the discipline, habits, and confidence needed to move forward. These experiences help prepare men and women not only to find employment, but to build stable and productive lives.
For many graduates, the journey from recovery to meaningful work becomes the foundation for lasting change. As they return to their families, churches, and communities, they carry with them the work ethic, responsibility, and hope that were rebuilt during their time at Warriors Center.
